More will be coming about the course very soon. However, if you cannot register for this course because you took Physics 120 instead of Physics 112, please read on...
The physics prerequisite for this course is entered in as Phys 112. That should not discourage folks who took Phys 120 instead. However, you need to send me an email (jklymak@uvic.ca) with "SEOS 431" in the subject containing your name and student number that I can then forward to admin folks to sign you up for the class.
In future years, this will be fixed on webreg, but I didn't notice the problem until too late. Sorry for the inconveninence.
There is a course pack for this course taht should be available in the bookstore soon. It comprises the complete text of Introduction to Geophysical Fluid Dynamics by Cushman-Roisin. This text is a great introduction to most of the material covered in this course.
For assignments and background reading, I strongly reccomend Regional Oceanography by Tomczak and Godfrey. They have a colour version available online at: http://www.es.flinders.edu.au/~mattom/regoc/pdfversion.html I am particularly fond of ther first four chapters, which are a great introduction.
Robert Stewart's text Introduction to Physical Oceanography is at: http://oceanworld.tamu.edu/ocean410/ocng410_text_book.html
