Chris has studied many fundamental aspects of ocean physics, including surface and internal waves, tides and tidal power, ocean mixing, flow through straits, air-sea interaction, and marine pollution.. He was the Lansdowne Professor of Ocean Physics at the University of Victoria from 1991 to 2010 in the School of Earth and Ocean Science and Department of Physics and Astronomy.
